Kia car owners love their cars—and for several good reasons. Let’s start with this: for five consecutive years (2015–2019), J.D. Power has recognized Kia as the highest-ranked mass-market brand in initial quality. Kia continues to win awards from J.D. Power for quality, dependability, and performance. Here are five more reasons:
- Affordable Luxury
Kia remains a popular brand in part because their cars are sold at reasonable prices without skimping on quality. Whichever model you choose, you can’t go wrong with a Kia.
- Lots to Choose From
No matter what kind of driver you are, from family-oriented to sporty-minded, and from city commuter to nature trekker, Kia offers a plethora of style, power, and accessory options.
- Innovative Tech
The advanced features of Kia cars—e.g., keyless start, full-view cameras, and 5G connections—are both practical and intuitive to use.
According to Interbrand, Kia was named Best Global Brand six years in a row; and year after year Kelley Blue Book confers awards on multiple Kia models for their impressive combination of value, elegance, and capability. Those are just a few of the many industry awards Kia has won.
- Last But Not Least…
SAFETY! Kia continues to meet drivers’ concerns with new car safety. Kia cars provide not just advanced airbag and sensor systems, but overall safety engineering built into the entire vehicle.
In short, Kia Motors manufactures spectacularly well-engineered vehicles that are a pleasure to look at—and that is why people fall in love with the Kia brand.
In Case of Accidents…
But what happens when the unthinkable occurs? Accidents do happen, of course—that is the nature of life and the world. (In a previous blog we provided a free, printable infographic suggesting five essential items to store in your car in the event of accidents. Elsewhere there is another infographic to keep in your glove compartment outlining the steps to take if your vehicle is involved in an accident.) As you’ll see, if your Kia is damaged in a fender-bender, or gets side-swiped by a careless driver, or suffers more serious damage in a collision, the very first thing you should do is make sure you and your passengers are all right.
After you’ve followed all the other important steps in this infographic, the last critical step should be to locate a competent auto body shop to repair the damage.
But…not so fast. That’s easier said than done!
Finding a Kia-approved Body Shop
The most important thing to remember is that all car mechanics are not created equal—and the cars of today are a far cry from those manufactured even just a decade ago. Because the materials, components, electronics, and on-board computers of every car make and model today can be radically different from those of every other make and model, it is vital that the person repairing your vehicle has been properly trained in making repairs to that specific make and model. They must also have access to authorized replacement parts and any specialized tools required to make the repair. Only the most rigorous repair techniques and replacement materials can assure that your Kia vehicle is restored to pre-accident condition and safety status.
And of course it helps if the collision repair facility is close by your location!
If you’re old school (or just old), your first instinct may be to reach for your Yellow Pages to look up a local Kia repair facility. But do they even print Yellow Pages anymore?! Or, if a friend, relative, or neighbor also drives a Kia, you might ask them for their advice.
Or better yet, you can just log in to your computer or smart phone and ask the Google machine. Type in a search phrase like “Kia-approved body shop near me”—and see what you get.
Notice the word “approved.” That is extremely important! You can also use “certified” or “recognized,” since they all mean approximately the same thing in the Kia-verse.
Also important is the past experience of the body shop’s customers. As an example, on our website you can read the testimonials from some of our customers. One of our favorites is this 5-star review from Demetrius Fountain:
Great service. Everyone knows your name. You can drop your car off and drive away in a rental. They perform the estimate and go straight to work to get your vehicle fixed. Great craftsmanship in the repair. Awesome front office! I give them my highest marks for auto repair.
How Does a Body Shop Become Kia-approved?
The Kia Recognized Collision Repair Center Program enables qualifying body shops to become officially “Recognized” by Kia. The purpose of the program is to identify collision repair centers that have the proper tools, equipment, training, and facility features necessary to repair Kia vehicles in a manner that ensures the fit, finish, durability, safety, and continuing value of the vehicle.
This means the Kia-approved (or Kia-certified, or Kia-recognized) auto body repair facility is able to provide vehicle owners with high-quality repairs using genuine parts, state-of-the-art tools, and authorized techniques.
